URS CORPORATION AWARDS BATTELLE $61 MILLION FOR ON-SITE LABORATORY AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Battelle’s role at Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility expands


Columbus, Ohio—Battelle recently was awarded a $61 million contract to support prime contractor URS Corporation at its site in Tooele, UT which is dedicated to helping the nation safely eliminate its chemical weapons stockpile.  URS received a $220 million contract from the U.S. Army for Phase 2 of the Chemical Agent Munitions Disposal System closure, secondary waste processing, and the destruction of a small amount of bulk nerve and blister chemical agent.

 

Battelle, as subcontractor to URS, is expanding its role in the management and operation of the facility’s OSHA VPP Star Status laboratories at the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility. By providing air monitoring and analytical support, Battelle assures the safety of employees and surrounding communities, as well as protecting the environment during the site’s chemical destruction and closure process.
