This page contains links to articles, videos and Web sites recommended by Battelle Vice President of Education and Philanthropy Rich Rosen. All of these links provide further insight into STEM initiatives in Ohio as well as around the country. And there's just some fun stuff too! There are many really great things going on out there. Please take a few minutes to visit a few of these links and come back often to see what's new.

1.  Take a look at this link to a really cool event that takes place every year at our partner institution, The Ohio State University. The Denman Undergraduate Research Forum highlights research across a large spectrum of disciplines. The Battelle-supported Metro Early College High School had five seniors and three juniors who presented along with the undergraduates at this event. Allie Barns (a junior) was interviewed as one of the 11 featured by OSU for this video clip. She received an overall rating of "Excellent" at the forum. Way to go Allie!  View video here

2.  As another summer of baseball gets under way, are you looking forward to seeing your favorite pitcher break the 100 mph speed record? Don't count on it!  Read this article on the physics of pitching to see why the 100 mph mark is about as fast as we'll ever see a pitch thrown - by a human anyway!

3. Held every two years, the Policy Conference at Salt Fork State Park Resort & Conference Center, brings business leaders from across the state together with members of the Ohio General Assembly. This past September, Battelle's own Simon Tripp, Senior Director or our Technology Partnership Practice, had the opportunity to address this conference and included in his remarks the impact of the work we are doing in education. Have a look and listen at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce Web site.
